GROUP TO EXAMINE IF HAZARDOUS WASTE WAS DUMPED AT SEA OFF DONEGAL

first_imgA group formed to examine the possibility that hazardous waste was dumped off Donegal will hold its first meeting tonight.Aodán ó Gallchóir, founder of the Sea Dump Donegal Campaign, says the group will meet at 7pm in the Yard in Falcarragh to form the cloughaneely branch of the campaign. This group of people will have to investigate the rumours surrounding the barrels that are believed to contain nuclear waste and Ammunitions which were dumped off the coast of North West Donegal shortly after the world wars. This group will then hold information nights in the Cloughaneely area on this issue and any findings of their investigations.A plan for the Cloughaneely branch and a proposed plan for the campaign in the months ahead will also be put together.“ These stories have circulated around Donegal for generations. If it wasn’t for the late Dr. Paddy Delap on raising the issue on a national stage, this case wouldn’t have survived until now. I commend him for his trogon work and determination to raise it.”“ Why am I raising it ? According to Dr Paddy Delap these barrels could have a strong connection with Donegal’s cancer rates. “If these barrels are filled with nuclear waste, I have evidence that will support the late Dr Paddy Delap’s case. This will have huge effects on the people and the environment if this is the case,” he said.GROUP TO EXAMINE IF HAZARDOUS WASTE WAS DUMPED AT SEA OFF DONEGAL was last modified: January 25th, 2013 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more
