first_imgIn their opening two games on Thursday in the Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney they defeated Potters Drogheda A 3-0, with wins for Brendan O`Donoghue, David Hogan and Mark Walsh.In their second game they defeated Terry Rogers B team 3-0 with victories for O`Donoghue, Hogan and Walsh once again.The team have a rest day today before resuming their campaign with games against The Q Club Wicklow and St Johns Limerick tomorrow.last_img

Liard Smith River Fire grows overnight Friday

first_imgThe Prince George Fire Centre says the forest fire burning near the Liard and Smith Rivers in Northeastern BC continues to grow.The exact size is now over 13,444 hectares.  Friday the fire was reportedly over 16,500 hectares.  The change is size is attributed to more accurate mapping of the fire.  Fire information officer Jilliam Chimko says that overnight Friday the fire continued to move in a northwestern direction and away from any homes and the Alaska Highway.Just prior to lunch time Friday, the evacuation order for Coal River, Fireside and Muddy River Indian Reserve #1 was lifted and residents were able to go home.  Those communities still remain under an evacuation alert.- Advertisement -Crews are working to maintain it the current size and are considering the north side 5% contained.  With a fire of this size, a lot of machinery will be utilized to build guards and help with suppression and containment.The Alaska Highway in the area remains open at this time, but expect delays because of smoke.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the fire service hopes that they will have discovered the cause shortly.last_img read more
