JOHN, B.C. — Dr. Kearney Middle School is hosting its first annual Charity Musical Cafe and Artisan Silent Auction, to help raise funds for the Rebecca Young Memorial Scholarship.Local businesses have been invited by the middle school to donate products or services for the auction.The scholarship honours Rebecca Young, a Dr. Kearney teacher who passed away last summer. Originally from Newfoundland, Young was only 27 and newly-engaged when she died suddenly from a brain hemorrhage on August 31, 2015.- Advertisement -Funds from the scholarship will benefit North Peace Secondary students graduating and pursuing studies of Special Education, Music, or both. Money will also be awarded to a graduating student with special needs.This silent auction takes place on May 28 at Whole Wheat and Honey, starting 7 p.m.last_img read more
