Sydney in top 10 for meetings destination

first_imgSource = e-Travel Blackboard: S.P In the 2010 International Convention and Congress Association (ICCA) ratings Sydney has been ranked number ten out of 364 global business meeting destinations.The ratings also revealed Sydney is ranked number two business events destination, second only to Singapore.“The result is a strong indication of the robustness of Sydney’s meetings industry and our ability to deliver world-class meetings, events and conferences,” Business Events Sydney (BESydney) chief executive Jon Hutchinson said.The ICCA’s results are highly regarded and this excellent result will bring renewed interest to our destination that will have a significant impact on future global business opportunities for Sydney, Mr Hutchinson said.BESydney will also be working on developing growth in the Asian market to increase Sydney’s market share from the region and will work closely with both industry and government bodies to reinforce Sydney’s leading position for business events.This financial year BESydney has secured 66 business events expected to generate AUD$185million for the economy which is 50percent more than last year.last_img read more
